PLAYWRITING

Jake has always had a passion for creative writing and writing in the dramatic form. Since moving to NYC, Jake has tried to give real attention to that passion, exploring both autobiographical events that struck him, and characters he never knew were inside his head.

Jake had the privilege of hearing Anne Bogart while at BC. She gave a wonderful lecture on the art of theatre, and how we as artists can strive for truth and reality in a performance. She called playwriting "the art form in which human beings make human behavior worth watching." Jake has always sought to achieve a hyper-realism with his work, and explored how he can use the human behavior to discuss ideas that he thinks are interesting.
